Types of Sets

Box set: -walled set -doesn't have to be square -only use curtains for sight line *suspend disbelief -missing the fourth wall "wall" between audience and actors

Curtain set: -curtains set the areas of the show/story -things that would be on a wall are hung from batton rigging -back wall is a cyc curtain *cyc white curtain or wall that you project things on to create a different environment -wall elements

Periakoi set -3 dimensional -turn it to make a new effect -all the same pieces -several triangular bits that turn to make new places -on wheels -easiest ways to get intricate sets with a box set

Permanent set: -Stays through the whole show -Has limitations -makes audience have to suspend their belief a little further -one set -most have levels

Screen set -Canvas tri-folds or bi-folds -everything easily moves -if you need an interior of a room that can be changed screen set -not always realistic
